A famous mage and scholar who wrote a series of books about magic and a reference list of the various known spells. He spent a large portion of his youth travelling and exploring ruins and far off lands in search of knowledge about magic. In his later years, he took up teaching. Despite being an elf who lived during the era of the Dragon Kings, as a mage, he was afforded many privileges and freedoms. He was born in the elven homeland and at first, didn't seem to have any strong aptitude for magic. He had a weak affinity for conjuration magic, but as a child, he was always seen as inept for his age. At about 80yrs old, he left his home and ventured south to Galag Rok where he begged a master conjurer in Qunid to take him as an apprentice. The dragonfolk mage acquiesced to Kieran's demands only out of exhasperation and began teaching him more advanced magic. Though Kieran had to work much harder to get the same results, he proved to be quite a serious student. While living with his master, he discovered old books on other forms of magic and records of magical places around Akea and even as far away as Evirs. After his master died early in the Second Dragon War, Kieran fled south and began his journey uncovering more secrets of magic. He spent centuries travelling and exploring going to places where no one had been in ages. Even after the war ended, he stayed away too enamored with his research. During this time, he also learned other schools of magic and became the first and only mage to be able to cast from every school of magic. He only returned in old age when he was too tired to continue the life of being an exporer. He returned to Qunid and began writing down his research more formally. During this time, he also started taking on apprentices and realized that they needed texts to study, too, to preserve the knowledge of magic. So he began his series On Thaumatology. He became a renowned mage, and word of his deeds even reached the elves back home, but he refused to return there. Most of his students were humans and dragonfolk who came from communities where mages weren't common. After his death, his students preserved his writing, though they remained largely unknown until the invention of the printing press.
