Tembara is a secret and magical language spoken by dwarves which allows them to stonesing. Some say that the dwarves are born knowing Tembara, and attempts to document it by linguists have all resulted in the records being burned and the linguist dying. Those who have heard it say that it sounds like the rocks themselves are reverberating, and that the sound of a dwarf stonesinging can pierce solid rock for miles. Dwarven miners sometimes use it as a means of communication across long distances. But most notably of all, it can only be produced by pressing the lips to the rockand speaking directly into the stone. The effects of stone singing and Tembara are well known. It's said that the dwarven halls are carved by singing, and miners are able to locate ore veins simply by singing for them.
The language is extremely melodious and believed to be tonal with vowel length distinctions, a fairly unusual feature. It can also be produced without any lip movement and when properly spoken, almost appears as though the speaker isn't speaking at all. Likewise, the nose isn't used because it's needed for breathing when pressed against the cave. Speakers are also capable to moving through solid rock and having the entire airway obstructed so long as there's a continual exhale into the stone. While this seems similar to the caving technique of exhaling completely to get through tight passages, Tembara allows for this to happen magically.
There have been requests from various caving and diving groups to learn Tembara from the dwarves, but all of those requests were refused. It's believed that Tembara could be a key factor in minimizing tragic deaths if only the cavers can sing their way out of dangerous spots. It's well known that dwarven rescue teams and miners use Tembara and stonesinging extensively to shift stone enough to allow for escape.
The clerics specifically have the ability to melt into the stone so long as they're singing. They can pass through solid rock walls around rubble and carry people out if need be.
