Bezear's Splendor
"You see that pendant he wears? That marks him as the new Witness, High Councillor, ruler of all the lands within the Empire. It is said that it was made from what was left of Bezear's shield when the Empire was formed." - overheard at the last election of the High Councillor, from a father to his son.
Bezear's Splendor is made to resemble what the shield is said to have looked like. Though somewhat tarnished in the 1,200 years since its forging, its outer plating still faintly casts a blue light. Five dragon heads encompass the edge of the shield, each appearing to be devouring the one in front of it. Etches across the surface of the shield separate it in 8 distinct, asymmetrical sections, representing the shield having been shattered during its final battle, the lines converge upon a closed eye made from a multicolored gemstone. The core of the pendant is made up of an alloy that combined the original fragment and ores from Valur's Scar that had been imbued by the forces that were at work during the battle.
Significance
Due to The Legend of Bezear's Shield associated with the pendant, and its purpose in the present day as an indicator of the High Councillor of Awenmont, the item is the most significant artefact from the first era of the Awenmont calander. Whenever the bearer of the pendant speaks, all listen, as the bearer's is considered to be the wisest amongst the High Council. All decrees and policys from the council are put into place and enacted through the Witness.
