The Answer Is No
Beanie and Noah sat in the old palmistry into the early hours of the morning, the sun would be up soon, but Beanie's mind was made up.
"How does one go on living in a world that is nothing like you know it?", the question hung there after nearly an hour of silence, Beanie barely raising his head when he spoke, Noah still as a corpse.
"The last 24 hours has turned everything inside out and I'm not sure what's going to happen now. I mean, Noah you are a bloody vampire for Pete's sake!", as he raised his voice the sleeping women, a lone survivor of the nights chaos stirred as they both looked to her realizing they would have to keep their voices down.
"In some way this should be all i'm hoping for, right?", his voice cracking as he whispered.
I was right, he thought to himself! I mean I've been wrong about a lot of things but I kind of knew that there was something out there. This is legit Mulder and Scully stuff. Who knows how far up this goes?
"Anyway, the last day has been hell, it has made me think about stuff I never thought I would even consider. I mean look at the condition of Julie, she is broken man. I know I said I wanted this, unlife or whatever you guys call it. But look at her, I couldn't do that to anybody, ever.", his voice sincere, Noah makes a subtle nod.
"So my answer is No, I don't wish you to turn me anymore.", Noah didn't look up, but his face smiled, he didn't want this for him, there was pain behind those eyes.
"I have one request of you Noah, please don't wipe my mind again?", the request was a question, not that making a commitment here would make a difference. How would Beanie know if the promise is kept. He slipped his hand into his pants pocket, fumbling with his interview recorder until he found the right button, as he hit record Noah made his promise. "You have my word, but know that if it ever got out...If it was ever linked to you. What you know, it would not only get you killed, but may very well get me killed too."
"I want to know this, I need to know. People deserves to know, Olivia deserves it.", Beanie almost ignoring Noahs response, as if it was expected. He knew if he continued to follow these stories, continue to write about them, he would have to do it anonymously, in secret, but he had every intention of getting the truth out there.
"Julie told me about this woman, Erzulie or something. The one who lured Olivia to her death...I will start with her, and that company, Ballard Constructions.", Beanie shifted in his seat as he spoke, noting Noah's discomfort.
"Its probably my worst idea so far but...I mean, however nasty things turn out in the end, I was right about it. I was right... "
