Phones can be tapped, letters intercepted and video conferences forged. Elders prefer the word of a trusted messenger — and if a Legate doesn’t always qualify, well, he’s still the next best thing. Sometimes a Legate is given a verbal message (either clear or cryptic), sometimes a sealed letter or a package. In any event the courier job is generally the same: carry it from person A to person B. Sometimes it’s a milk run, though other times the Legate may wind up holding some ardently sought relic. It doesn’t matter: It is the sacred duty of Legates to deliver the goods in a timely fashion, full stop.
