Generic .44 Magnum Revolver
Whereas .357 Magnum revolvers saw widespread use as police sidearms, the larger .44 Magnum cousins have always been primarily hunting and sporting weapons. The .44 Magnum round is considerably stronger than the .357, which makes the .44 unsuitable for use by weak shooters. The firing pressures this round generates are also much higher, which means that a revolver that uses .44 Magnum ammunition has to be a big, sturdy gun to survive. Any .44 Magnum revolver is a large, intimidating weapon, and most designers try to subtly accentuate this fact.
