Glossator

Vampire the Requiem - Nomads
Behind the three known and public duties of the Proclaimers, there are other roles that are kept secret from both other Kindred and the less-important members of the covenant. Many vampires who learned of the existence of the glossators would not immediately realize why these agents are hidden from view. Glossators are typically neonates, vampires Embraced within the last decade or two, and they travel from city to city performing a single secret task — helping Invictus elders make sense of the modern world.
If an influential elder cannot understand a particular aspect of the world, such as the internet or democracy or the debunking of the “four bodily humors” theory of medicine, and his confusion is affecting his ability to govern or overcome problems, a glossator interpreter is sent from outside to teach him how to deal with the foul surprises of the modern day. For a covenant founded on the rightness of tradition, the precept that the old ways will always surpass the new, this is nothing less than an admission of failure, a confession that the new has defeated the old. Such weakness cannot be seen to exist, and so the glossators are among the most secret of Invictus agents. Shuffled from city to city, Haven to Haven, they are well guarded and well observed — and when one becomes too out-of-touch with the changing face of the world, she has little hope of a comfortable retirement plan.
