Talebearer

Vampire the Requiem - Nomads
It’s hard for Kindred to find out what’s going on in other cities. There are no newspapers, it’s no simple matter to initiate communication with distant Kindred, and nobody’s even pretending to witness impartially. Enter the Legate.
The Lancea Sanctum knows that Legates have their own opinions, but they still like to trust a Legate’s judgment about San Francisco more than some mysterious correspondent who simply claims to be a Kindred there. When a Legate enters a city, she is expected to get some sense of what’s going on with the local undead, gathering information she can share with the other Bishops she visits.
The more Lancea Sanctum faith dominates the political scene, of course, the more access she has — Legates are frequent visitors to New Orleans because Prince Vidal respects them, honors them and gives them lots of access. Consequently, Vidal knows a lot about other cities, and the other cities know what Vidal wants them to hear about New Orleans. (Maybe a few things he doesn’t, too — that’s always a risk one takes when dealing with a powerful free agent.) It’s an exaggeration to say that Legates are Lancea Sanctum CNN. When they talk about what’s going down in Cincinnati, though, they get more credit than the standard internet rumor.
