Hadryn

The Eternal Matron

The Greenweald. Goddess of the spring and all plant life, it is said that wherever she walks becomes blessed grounds and will soon grow wild with lush greenery. To the mortal races, she is the deity of birth and fertility, along with the idea of monogamous love. Traditional weddings usually include some form of reverence to Hadryn. When she appears to mortals, it is as a heavily pregnant human female with long blonde hair in a heavy braid.   Hadryn is one of the three deities who ascended from a mortal life into godhood. In life, she was the wife of fellow ascended Psero, and they lived a simple, but happy life in a cottage on a peaceful stretch of coastline. The only cloud that hovered over the happy couple was their lack of a child, but they were still eternally grateful for each other. It was the actions of the chaotic god Falspar that led to the couple's downfall - he came across the couple in his random wanderings across the world, and for reasons beyond knowing he took the form of Psero and tricked Hadryn into lying with him, a union that resulted in a baby girl that, unfortunately, was stillborn. Of course Falspar couldn't just leave things there, so he revealed to the horrified couple what had transpired. In a fit of shame and grief, Hadryn flung herself and her lost baby from a cliff and onto the rocks below despite the desperate pleas of her husband. Seiren, irked by Falspar's constant meddling with mortals, took pity on the pair and gave Hadryn a choice - she could accept her fate and return to the afterworld, or accept Seiren's deal. The deal would mean that Hadryn, Psero and their daughter would all be reborn as gods in direct opposition to Falspar, but they would never be able to see one another again. Hadryn accepted, and her final act was to use the mortal bodies of herself and her family to create the Sprites, to guard the Feywild and give her daughter Usul the final gift of something to protect.
