Queensguard

The revered guardians of Andaria, the Queensguard have a history that spans back to the First Queen of Andaria. The matriarchal nature of the Andarian people is reflected in their chosen guardians - the Queensguard is exclusively made up of women, but not just any woman can join. The recruitment process is gruelling, both physically and mentally, and only the best of the best are allowed to join these illustrious ranks. Those who are unsuccessful are often filtered into jobs more appropriate for their talents, as the judges from the highest echelons of the Guard are chosen for being excellent judges of character, and many go on to have very successful careers.
The primary function of the Queensguard is in their name - they are the ones who guard the ruler of Andaria. Predominantly found inside and around the castle, they stand out in their golden armour with blood red fittings, their practiced stern expressions enough to bring a shiver to even the hardiest of spines. While most day-to-day crimes are left to the regular constabulary, it is possible to see a Queensguard at work in crimes where there may potentially be danger to the royal family. Any such Queensguard is one to be feared, as these are their Intelligence division, shrewd women with sharp eyes that miss no detail, and these women have foiled any number of attempted coups and assassinations before they could even get off the ground.
The current Captain of the Guard is Alexandria Pelos, an imposing woman with dark hair and eyes who is rarely found anywhere but in the same room as Queen Sybilla, and more recently Crown Prince Elsan. She is said to be very impressed by the Queen's husband, but not quite enough to allow the Queen to be far from her sight.
