Rend

For centuries, the royal family of Fordren has fought tooth and nail for their lands - many wars have been had with the harsh Zolus to the north, and the wild tribes of the Renna rainforest to the west, but through them all the Ford family has stood strong and kept their people safe from harm. Now they enjoy peace, brought by King Elias Ford over 100 years ago, but their history is a bloody one.   Much of their success in repelling the attacks of ancient foes is attributed to one man - the High King Henri Fordsson, the appointed ruler of the assorted ancient tribes whom he would later unite to become the first King of Ford. More important than the man, however, was the legendary blade he took into battle, the greatsword Rend.   Said to be a relic made by Soldas the Forgemaster, Rend is a greatsword measuring almost six feet from blade tip to the end of the hilt, a sword that your average man could never hope to wield. The blade seems almost to glow from within, the metal made with a mystery red alloy that also seems to give it uncommon sharpness and strength - there are words carved into the blade's edge, tiny and only legible if you hold the sword right up to your face, which say "With Elwynne's grace may I smite my foe" in elven. Nobody knows who Elwynne may be, as her identity has been lost to time. The hilt and pommel are surprisingly plain, holding one large red gemstone sat in a circular holder the very end of the hilt.   Rend now sits above the great throne in Castle Ren, hung upon the wall as a reminder of what happens to those who threaten the great nation.
