San Dono
The original city of the Sagefolk, San Dono was once a beautiful sight. Built almost entirely of the grey limestone local to the isle of San Isra, it was mostly a religious site focused on the worship of the ancient Sage goddess Serra and her most beloved disciple Rinta. Due to the history of the child goddess, it was necessary to undertake great rituals to keep her asleep deep within the Temple, as were she to awake she would destroy the Sages and potentially all mortal life in her great rage.
There was a prophecy, however, that told of a Sagefolk child who would be born with a single lock of black hair - this childs birth would warn of the awakening of Serra and the destruction that would follow. Just over 100 years prior to the present, this child was born within San Dono itself; the woman who would later become Saint Leah after the events of the Pilgrimage. Her birth was uneventful, however her black lock, almost unheard of in the race of fair-haired and skinned people, marked her as an outcast and caused her no end of pain from the hatred of her peers. Ironically, this pain was the trigger that caused Leah to unknowingly awaken the goddess slumbering in the nearby temple, and Serra's wrath levelled the entire city leaving only rubble. This triggered a pre-planned escape route the Sages had made with the help of the Sprites, in which every Sage not immediately killed in the destruction was teleported to the pocket realm of the Sprites, where they were safe.
The events of the Pilgrimage that followed resulted in the state of San Dono today - still in ruins, but considered a holy site. The goddess Serra was defeated within the remnants of her Temple, and the entire city is now inhabited only by Saint Leah and her guardian Zedar. The city proper was rebuilt roughly 20 miles south, and renamed San Lea after the woman who saved her people.
