The Blight

Ten years ago, a great magical bomb was dropped on the city of Andar.   Ten years ago, most of the western half of Andaria's great Queendom became uninhabitable.   Ten years ago, the Blight came.   The Blight is characterized by the death of the very earth itself - only the most rotten of plantlife is capable of growing in the fetid earth there, and the trees that stood before have decayed to black fingers that stab at the sky, weeping violet sludge. The ground itself has taken on a purple-grey hue, and a slight miasma hangs in the air.   Nobody knows what the cause of the contamination, spread by the arcane bomb, actually was. Even the High Priestess Zo'sen, who was responsible for the attack, could not tell her successors what exactly was in the bomb they dropped over the city - when she was apprehended and overthrown by her daughter, Zo'lessa, she was unable to articulate any of what had happened, including where she had gotten the bomb from. Common consensus is that she was manipulated, but as yet no investigation has turned up any information of use.   Currently, the Society for the Restoration of Andar - a group focused on recovering and restoring the great capital to its former glory - are hunting for a cure or way to reverse the Blight, but have so far only found ways to stop its growth.

Localization

The area covered by the Blight is a rough circle that covers many hundreds of miles emanating from the coastal area that was the original city of Andar. It is actually larger than it was originally, as it has been shown to spread very slowly, contaminating the very earth as it travels outward. However the druidic covens of the land have banded together and have made a pact between several nature gods to keep the infection at bay.
