Kelp Merfolk
All Merfolk can trace their lineage back to those of the Kelp. Kelp Merfolk make their homes in the nearshore kelp forests of the world, farming the algae and the creatures that feed upon it. These merfolk tend to be more mischievous than most, and delight in playing tricks on the occasional land-dweller.
Kelp Merfolk appear as an Elven torso attached to a fish-like tail. Their elven half has smooth skin, and hair on their heads, while the fish tail is scaled. Their hands are slightly webbed. Their faces, while generally elven, have a slightly stunted nose, and black pupils.
Kelp Merfolk Traits
Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 1. Tamer of the Sea: You have advantage on Persuasion and Animal Handling skill checks involving aquatic animals. Trickery of the Seafey: You know the Minor Illusion cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Charm Person spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
