Raqis

Located in the red-sand desert in central Vandrius, the nation of Raqis thrives on trade between the The River Kingdoms to the north, and the nations of the Kakani Wilds and Korris to the south. The once-great desert city of Khalzar was founded by Lamia, but the city has since fallen to ruin and been reclaimed by the sands. The people of Raqis now live primarily in Khaldai, a city built into the walls of the Qa'dran Canyon. Raqis is a majority human nation, but is also home to Lamia, Oreads, Centaurs, and Goliaths.
Khaldai is built into the impossibly steep Qa'dran Canyon, with a massive stone wall separating the city from the rest of the desert. Buildings are both built into the canyon walls, and carved from them. Natural stone bridges arch throughout the canyon. Because the city does not get much sunlight, there are tunnels carved to the surface of the canyon with mirrors to bring sunlight into homes. There are also mirrors throughout the city to help illuminate things. People ride large canyon lizards throughout the city, leaping from wall to wall at times.
