When the infirmary went up in the old Goldenglow warehouse people just stated calling it 'the Rothouse' and kept well out of the way. 'Cause that's where they put them... you know, the people with the Rot.

Purpose / Function

The Goldenglow Infirmary is a clinic open to anyone affected by The Rot, as long as there are beds available. It is run by The Holy Order of Tighru, a religious organisation. They claim to have found a cure called Sap of Divinity, which seems to be working well enough. The sick form a steady stream into Cirranne's dock district, coming from all over Vanelle, hoping to be cured.
The infirmary has a total of 212 beds, spread over two floors.

Alterations

To transform the old warehouse into a clinic, many improvements were made to the building. Leaks were patched, the walls were insulated and plumbing was installed, to name just a few. Due to the high ceiling of the building, it was decided to install another floor in order to make more room for beds. In addition, windows were installed, both to let light in and for air circulation.
All of this happened in just a few weeks - some say the urgency was due to the high number of afflicted seen on the city streets, others that it was to make the Protectorate seem like it was taking action against the disease. Whichever it was, they succeeded in seeding a measure of hope in the population, likely avoiding unrest.

History

The Goldenglow warehouse was erected by Franz Goldenglow in 1389, a merchant and importer of fine goods, to house merchandise. However, due to a series of unfortunate shipwrecks in which Mr Goldenglow lost a great deal of merchandise as well as two of his sons, he decided to leave Cirranne in 1394. Following his departure, the city had a great deal of trouble finding a new tenant for the warehouse and eventually gave up, leaving it empty. At the time, rumours about the warehouse being cursed were circulating in Cirranne, in particular among its merchants and sailors. These rumours no doubt started due to Mr Goldenglow's exceptionally bad luck in most of the endeavours he undertook.
Thus when The Rot began affecting an increasing number of Cirranites in 1425, it was decided that the empty warehouse would serve as a temporary infirmary. It was decided that management of the infirmary was to be given to The Holy Order of Tighru, who gladly accepted the mission and the chance to increase the presence within the city.
However, at the time of writing (10 years on), although the Thigrunites came up with a cure of sorts, the influx of patients to Goldenglow Infirmary shows no signs of abating.
