Brightcrest

Brightcrest is the third biggest city in Elphora. It is dedicated to Sláine, Goddess of Health and Prosperity. It is arguable the most popular pilgrimage spot in all of Vanor, due to being the place where Dale Eargo did the majority of his work. It is situated on the northern side of Lake Nivernia.   The city of Brightcrest has many many temples, churches and shrines. There is a church on every other street, and 8 temples within the city walls. The is made largely of stone however there are still places that you will find wood and thatching used in buildings. The city is also known for its large number of hospitals. These range in price with some being very expensive, providing the best of the best treatment for only the richest people, with others costing next to nothing. The hospitals also vary in type of medicine, with some relying exclusively on magic, some relying exclusively practical medicine, but most of them provide some combination of them both.   Brightcrest is home to Eargo's Temple and Medical Centre (or just Eargo's to the locals), which functions as both a temple and a hospital. The location has two different entrances, one for the church building and one for the hospital. It is very easy to travel between the two sides of the building. The hospital is also on the cheaper side, charging only the cost of covering the basic expenses - lesser treatments are free, being covered by donation to the church. The temple is known to employ a mixture of both magical and practical medicines, and it holds it's place as the most popular temple for the common folk to go to.   The biggest temple in Brightcrest is situated in the very centre of the city - Saint Dale's Temple of Sláine. Outside of the temple is a large marble statue depicting Sláine wearing a flowing white dress, and seemingly being lifted up by a flock of doves. The statue is sunk a small way into the ground, with shallow staircases leading down to it in a circular shape. It is a very common sight to see people sitting on the stairs, praying to Sláine, as well as hundreds of candles placed in various places close the the statue. A little way over holds the temple. It has a grand staircase entering it. There are four buildings within the temple, and a large section of raised gardens. The most notable feature is a massive statue depicting Sláine making a circle with her hands over the forehead of a kneeling Dale Eargo.   on 13-14 of Slaide (month 3) the city hosts Health Day, a celebration of Slaine.   The noble family of Brigthcrest are the Upperton family.
