Dale Eargo

Dale Eargo is arguably the most important religious figure in all of Vanor. He was the first man to be named a saint. Dale Eargo was born in a small town in 45aV, now called Ergron, situated at the south of lake Nivernia in Elphora. In his youth Dale was a sailor and explorer, but abruptly gave up that life, choosing to move a town just north of his hometown, Brightcrest at the age of 34. There he started working at one of the temples of Slaine as a healer. The Great Plague hit Vanor in 100aV. It was known to spread quickly, and kill a number that was infected by it. Dale Eargo continued to work through the plague even though many healers quit due to fear of catching the plague themselves. Even though he dealt with a number of plagued people Dale never seemed to get ill himself. Around a year into the plague, Dale started being able to heal people with the plague almost instantly; with just a touch, and still never getting sick himself. He had always been the most proficient healer at the temple, treating cuts and bruises almost instantly and illnesses in half the time of anyone else, but being able to cure someone of the plague with just one touch was a massive step forward. News of Dale Eargo's abilities spread throughout the land, and people started to flock to him. He started healing hundreds, if not thousands, of people everyday. After working through the population of Elphora Dale and a small team travelled across the rest of Vanor. Dale explained to the people in his team that after spending years working with practical medicine and praying, he received communication from Slaine herself, telling him he was doing good work and granting him the power of magical healing. Over a four year period - stopping in every town and city across the land - Dale Eargo managed to wipe the plague off the face of Vanor. As a reward and to celebrate the end of the plague Brightcrest was granted city status and Dale was made Duke of Brightcrest, but immediately handed rule over to his daughter, Nadia Upperton. in 130aV Elphora and Constonia got into a disagreement about land and war nearly broke out. At 85 years old Dale Eargo had a meeting with the two leaders and managed to convince both of them to step down, convincing them that war would only devastate both lands due to the recent loss of life in the plague. Dale Eargo prevented the outbreak of a war and was once again heralded as a hero. In 147aV Dale Eargo passed away in his sleep at 102 years old. He died having never once been ill in his adult life. The people celebrated his life and mourned his death, and the decision was made to event a new title to honour him: Dale Eeargo posthumously became Nalbon's first saint.
