Faewren

Faewren is the second smallest city in Elphora. It is not dedicated to any of the gods. Instead, the city is part of Elphora's alliance with Aella - it is designed to be a safe haven for the elves of Elphora. It is twinned with Manora, the city designed as a safe haven for humans in Aella.   The city was erected by Faephrina, a Queen of Aella, and therefore takes a lot of inspiration from Aellan architecture, with a focus on wooden buildings with intricate engravings and heavily featuring nature within the city's planning. The buildings tend to be on the smaller side, and it is very uncommon to find house that are not fully detached.   The city is hidden away and easy to miss, being in the deepest forest in Elphora.   Within the last 20 years the city made an alliance with Magecrest, where a school dedicated to the teaching of the elven wizarding practice of Bladesong was built.   The city is home to the Museum of Elven History, which has a large indoor garden, with high murals of carved then painted wood depicting the history of the elves across all of Vanor. May say that the museum comes closer to a spiritual experience than a proper learning one.   There are very few humans living in Faewren, and the ones who are are largely shunned. With this attitude many expect for half-elves to be equally shunned however the half elf population is thriving, making up just over 50% of the total population of the city. There is a movement pushing for more half elves to be born, but with the focus on half elves breeding with other half elves, instead of bringing humans into the equation.   The city has far less religious things going on than the other cities of Elphora, however it does have a large monastery just on the outskirts dedicated to The Nine.   There are a lot of cafes and teashops in Faewren. Tea is the most popular elven drink, with many different types used for different occasions or moods. While elves can sleep, going into a trance as part of meditation is also a common method of getting a long rest. Faewren is home to a number of meditation locations. They are specially tailored in order to the customer into a trance and provide a specific dream that they may be looking for.   There has been a recent rise in places cropping up designed to appeal to non-elven tourists by giving them a taste of elven culture. Some residents are in support of this, however many are unhappy with it, claiming that it cheapens or infantilises elven culture. For example, meditation locations that tailor themselves towards humans looking for a fun spiritual experience, despite them not being able to actual enter a trance. Many of these places also use false measures to scam non-elven humanoids.   The city is currently being run by Duchess Venyra Aldershine - a full elf, and granddaughter of Faephrina. She is very pro encouraging half elves to only mate with other half elves.
