Argetlam Cavern

Argetlam cavern (Sometimes referred to as big Argey) is underneath Astira and is known to be a place of incredible danger. The cavern is in the lowerdark, and is the farthest down anyone has been known to go. It is so far down it has some connections to the plane of shadow, and even two stable portals to the Shadowfell. The main entrance to the cavern leads you to what's called The City of The End, while it's called a city it's more of a fortress. It is the only city inhabited by Astirians and it is the only place in the entire cavern where some measure of safety can be found. There are several abandoned fortresses in the cavern that now occupy hordes of horrifying creatures. There is a massive lake of lava in the Argetlam cavern, in the middle of it holds Potenia a city of Fire Giants. Also in the cavern is the two towns, Shullak and Faith, which are both occupied by societies of Dragonborn ruled by shadow dragons. They are not friendly to those outside their race. Past the two towns is an area known as the Dark, some debate if it's similar to the voidfeilds in The Elemental Planes of Choas or if it's some other force entirely. The Dark seems to be slowly expanding at a rate of about 3 feet per year. No one has gotten close enough to examine it properly, to understand its nature, Those who try often come back raving mad. There was one survivor who screamed about an entity known as “The flesh” but other than that no more information has survived. One of the reasons people still live down here is the Forge of the Seventh star, a dwarven forge that predates the discovery of steel. The Forge has been known to make legendary magic items and its smith Kingston refuses to leave. On another side of the cavern is a giant tunnel known as “His domain” it is constantly covered by a thick layer of fog limiting visibility to about 20 feet, and whispers can be heard constantly while in the passageway. No one has explored the passageway, because it is too dangerous The main reason for anyone living in Argetlam cavern at all is The City of Death, the city is a gathering of Vampires, and their spawn. It is said that the stench of blood can be smelled for miles. The City of The End’s main goal is to defeat the vampire city and kill its leader Mordoc SeLanmere. If the vampires are allowed free reign then they will cause the country no end of grief.
