History
Laycen was built on top of a dungeon called The Rift. The Rift was a sprawling dungeon, and at the end, there was a portal to Ovello. Adventures were hired initially to shut the portal but they were unable to do so. However, demons and fiends were pouring out of the portal, and something needed to be done. A Military base called Laycen was built over the dungeon in the year 790 in which some of the best warriors of the land were stationed to hold out against the hordes until a solution was found. The Archmage of Half Lit Island eventually came up with a solution in the year 903, however, when he tried to close the portal the people of Laycen would not let him. Laycen had turned into a military city, with people who were raised in a society of combat. If anyone wished to leave they could however no one but Laycen citizens were allowed in the Rift. The Archmage tried to force his way in but the people of Laycen were the best warriors and mages in the land and the Archmage never got the chance. The people insist that the portal is their responsibility and also their birthright and they refuse to give up their combative culture.
Description
Laycen is a city with large stone walls built in a square formation. There is a castle in the middle and in the basement of the castle is a well-guarded entrance to The Rift. Large Lead doors block the entrance of the dungeon. Laycen is built on the edges of a marsh and hot plains, with some wooded areas around. The towns Hellfighters are fearsome warriors and casters that are feared by outsiders immensely, but they act like they are living their best lives.
