Genetics and Reproduction
The war hounds are created in Mount Immolate in the same basic fashion that bees and wasps are in the real world. There are many hives scattered around naturally formed caves inside the volcano.
Growth Rate & Stages
The war beasts have a very short adolescent period, they reach full size within a couple of weeks. During this time, they develop short horns on their head and jaw and rock hard scales form along the spine and around the neck.
Ecology and Habitats
The optimal environment for the war hounds is inside volcanos, however, they have proven to be able to survive in normal conditions and even prolonged exposure in below-freezing temperatures without any negative side effects.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The war beasts have adapted to their environment and can survive off nothing but raw ash, sulfur, and molten lava. The only resources available in Mount Immolate.
Biological Cycle
In the early days of this species' existence, they would hibernate during the winter back in Mount Immolate. As time passed they evolved to not have to hibernate, meaning they could be used extremely effectively in war without any drawbacks.
