Scarlet Sandstorm

The Conflict

Prelude

After many cycles of discontent and occasional confrontations,  things finally hit a breaking point after the latest trade demands from Delta Edge.

Battlefield

Movement on the dunes proved difficult, much of the battle took place around rock formations and river banks.

Conditions

Artificial wind was used to whip up a sandstorm as a form of cover from both the sun and the opposition. Without a defense against the stinging grains and howling winds combatants were half blind.

The Engagement

Canyon Town held the high ground around the rock formations taking advantage of their knowledge of the land. Boulders were pushed into the river to dam up the water. With the loss of water Delta Edge was forced to carry all supplies along land trade routes.   Archmage Bronze summoned a fierce sandstorm to hinder its opponents. Wind Wards to direct the sand away became essential in protecting the camps and combatants.

Outcome

Delta Edge suffered a shortage of fresh water while the dam upstream was disassembled. Vegetation shriveled under the beating sun. The only local food source was the sea everything else had to be imported from foreign regions. Individuals created around this time are smaller in size.

Aftermath

Canyon Town is buried under the desert sands. Without the smelters income from Woestijn's precious metals trade is completely dried up, forced to rely only on profits from foreign trade in the markets.

Historical Significance

Technological Advancement

Wind wards were adjusted to cover wider expanses with improvements to pressure resistance, later used to protect the city from the dunes.
