Bellymaw

Often stories of a Bellymaw sighting are nothing more than that; tall tales with a big monster for dramatic effect. It's easy to know most stories are fabricated, as those who have really encountered a Bellymaw likely didn't live to tell the tale.
A Bellymaw is a large ape-like creature with a ferocious appetite. Its most distinguishing feature is the giant mouth on its stomach large enough to swallow cattle whole.

Hell's Howler

The Bellymaw has the ability to let out a chilling magical howl, which causes those who hear it to imagine themselves being devoured by the Bellymaw. As such, even in places where the Bellymaw has only been heard, it has strongly embedded itself into the local consciousness.
