Firsthand Account of the Empyrean Schism

The contents of the document contained within this exhibition are the recollections related to the beginning of the Empyrean Schism as experienced by the Magus Dragon known as Venefic Sigilis, current Headmaster of the Wissan Dominion. The original manuscript detailing the event, along with much of the text related to it, are stored within Venefic's personal collection of information. What is displayed in the document is simply a fragment of the event as it was experienced first hand nearly 2,000 years ago.

Purpose

This document has been drafted to ensure proper records of the Empyrean Schism exist. There are no longer any first hand witnesses to the event, save for one.

History

When the heavens fell world-side, and divine beings waged war on solid ground, an entire nation that had spanned a continent for over a milenia fell to it's knees. This world-shattering event brought the Dominon of Vasan crumbling down, with the majority of it's infrastructure, knowledge, and manpower killed or destroyed in the battles. This event also saw the death of some gods along with the rise of new ones to take their place; both interlopers and ascended mortals.

Legacy

This document is widely regarded as a highly-prized insight into the past, and is highly studied by scholars within the Wissan Dominion.

Firsthand Account of the Empyrean Schism

When the Sky Fell

I remember it like I do many other days - I was teaching an advanced ritual to those I deemed worthy in my Circle. It involved intensive meditations, expensive metals and gems, and if I'm not mistaken some scented candles; specifically vanilla candles. If it had not been interupted, my favorite pupils would have gained the boon of draconic vision. Alas, we were but half way through the ritual when the heavens fractured. I think I can still hear the angelic trumpets heralding the Creators' arrival to Zynaudis...

That is when everything, and I mean everything, began to fall apart. I could feel Yhonio, one of the many flying cities that could be found at the height of the Dominion of Vasan's power, begin to tremble beneath us. The ground cracked apart and people fell through, only to be ground into a paste of red goo and bone marrow as the earth shifted. The city was falling, and it was not pretty. I was quick enough to usher most of my pupils to a teleportation circle not far from our ritual location, and teleported them away from the city. I knew what I had to do.

I, along with the three other Magus Dragons from Yhonio, took to the skies. We could not stand idly by while our hoards, no, our students were masacred. It was not long before many of the other Warden Dragons from different cities joined us in our flight towards the heavens. The roaring, the smell of blood, and spells being slung that day... I'll never forget, even through my many iterations. I personally dispatched several angels, but was struck down when a cluster of Devas swarmed me.

When I awoke, all of my kin were slain around me. Two of the Magus Dragons I flew with had their wings, their spellbooks, cut from their body. The Bulwark Dragons had their fangs and claws removes. There were too many casualties that day, but I had to stand up; I had to find my pupils and make sure they were safe.

It was after I took off to the skies that I was finally able to see the destruction around where I had fallen. Yhonio laid in ruin, with over half of the city buried into the ground upon impact. Looking up, the very heavens themselves continued to shine their radiance across the land. It was then I knew that this was not over. There would be more bloodshed to come.
