Arasil, Capital of Nenad
A seaside city, though that is a bit misleading as the city is partially underwater. Nenad serves as a trade hub between the mainland of Vasea and the Vauxset Province .
Demographics
Arasil is a vastly diverse and densly populated city. Many choosing to call it home because of the senic beauty and because of the vast trade empire it houses. Others visit to see the sights and yet more come on trade ships to do business with the island.
Government
Arasil serves as the home base for the Seredine counciler of the Vauxset Enclave's ruiling body. This is primarily as Arasil is one of four of the bigest cities on the islands. While they do not directly govern the city they are, in some ways, more influential in it's policies than the mayor.
Aside from the councilor Arasil is led by a city commission made up of elected officials from each district as well as a Mayor who oversees the implementation and brings the cities concerns to the councilor. This commision is formed of two elected officials in each district, from there they bring the concerns and the needs of their people forward to form policy.
Industry & Trade
Most of the trade in Arasil takes the form of fishing, aquaculture, shells, dyes, and sailing infrascture. They are the foremost exporter of all things shipcraft. As such a large area of the docks is dedicated to warehouses and shipwrights workshops.
Infrastructure
Arasil is an ancient but well maintained city, the historical districts recieving healthy funding for upkeep and repairs second only to the docks budget. Large outdoor market places make up a large portion of the city, one in each district at least. In addition to the docks, markets, and historical buildings Arasil is known for it's canal market district, a lovely historical area filled with wonderful art and architecture as well as the best goods from around the empire.
Districts
Temple District - One of the oldest areas of Arasil, older even than the castle district. Large airy buildings made of driftwood, shell, and sandstone drapped with colorful silks make up most of the scenery of the district. The main function of the district is still much the same as it always has been, the religious center of not just Arasil but of what was once the country of Nenad.
Castle District - Another of the many historical sights of city, once the diplomatic home of the Queen of Nenad, the castle district now serves as a tourism hub and plays host to one of the largest markets in Arasil. Known for both the castle itself, where the queen of old used to house foriegn diplomats, and the statuary and grandiosity of the monuments to history and to nature. The most well to do merchants and nobles make their homes in this district.
Canal Market - As the name suggests this district is dedicated to the largest market in Arasil, comprised of large canals that wind through a historic housing district. Large ornate bridges overlook the canals, and in places large floating platforms serve as resturaunts and entertainment stops throughout. It is never quiet in the markets as people are always out hocking their wares along the sides of the canals.
Docks - Arguably the most important of the districts, the docks are the heart and soul of what makes Arasil as vibrant and diverse as it is. With as much trade as Vauxset does with the rest of the empire the docks are constantly being worked on to improve, expand, and upkeep them. The markets of the docks cater more to food and to wholesale than they do to fine goods as well.
Entertainment District - One of the newest districts of the city, the entertainment district was created to cater to the interests and social activities of all across the empire. Bussling pubs, taverns, theaters, concert halls, street shows, ect. are all found here.
Housing District - The housing district is constantly under construction as more and more homes are needed, making the district arguably the newest. The demands that must be met by the ever growing and changing population. The markets there serve more for domestic needs than anything else.
Under Water District - The largest district by far can not be seen by land as it exists below the water. The Seredine as a people can survive both above and below the waves, as such they tend to like the privacy afforded them by living below.
Tourism
Arasil sees a large amount of tourism both due to Vauxset's semi-removed location from the rest of the empire as well the beauty of the beaches and architecture. The sheer diversity and the pull of exotic goods and services draws many, and many more come for business.
