Declaration of Ancient Studies

The Declaration of Ancient Studies is a document detailing the intentions and goals of the archaeological expeditions into the Northern Wastes. The purpose was to put the people and government at ease with the idea of studying such a dangerous subject. It was successful in curbing the mass hysteria that almost took hold across the empire.

Purpose

The purpose of the letter was to aleviate the fears of the public at the idea of studying and searching for relics of the Ancients. While not much is known about the people themselves the stories and history that has survived has painted a cautionary tale of those who played with powers not meant for them. To such that the idea of studying them was causing panic amongst the people who feared the dangers that could come of such an endeavour. The letter served as a way to explain the intents and purposes behind the study as well as a promise that caution would be used.

The letter is done in an open form that starts with addressing the worries and fears of the people and acknowlefdging them. From there it splits into a detailed list of the ways that this is being handled and the reasons for the the study. This includes that the study is in part to ensure they don't make the same mistakes as the Ancients did and that they can possibly learn more about magic in general as well as explanations for what the Ancients changed in the world and why. The most important reason given though is that they seek more information on The Void.

Publication Status

The letter was published and distributed to all corners of the empire, it was given to leaders across the land to ensure that it was further made available to the concerned populace.
