Raven Queen
The Raven Queen title is not one that most are familiar with, though those who serve under her or know of her existence tread lightly at the mention. While not malicious, her involvement is something that should be feared if known.
Qualifications
Trained in the art of espianoge, secrecy, and politics. They are also required to be capable of mass socialization and networking. It is also expected that they be loyal to the Emperor beyond a doubt.
Requirements
To be at least a legal adult by reckoning of their race and part of the network built up by previous holders of the rank.
Appointment
They are typically chosen by the current Raven Queen and trained prior to their appointment for at least three years. They must also have gained the approval of the Emperor. Potential succeccors can also be chose by the Emperor to be trained in place of a chosen option or in addition to a chosen option.
Duties
To maintain an information network and to identify and neutralize as many potential threats to the Emperor as possible. They are also to curry the favor of the people through aiding in social and public works of benefit to the common citizen. The care and upkepp of their ranks is also expected, no one is to be left behind and all concerns are to be delt with seriously.
Responsibilities
- Keeping an ear out in the courts for dissent.
- Keep an eye on public opinion and concern and bring it to the Emperor.
- Deal with any threats unearthed, be that to the Emperor or to the Empire as a whole.
Benefits
They have a direct line to the Emeperor and a decent ammount of political inffluence, as any concern they bring to his attention is treated with urgency. They also recieve both an operations budget and a personal stipend.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Failure to uphold their duties and responsibilites reasonably. Betrayal of the Emperor, or the reasonable questioning of their loyalty.
History
The rank of Raven Queen was created by the isistence of Quixen at the birth of the empire, despite Rai's misgivings about the idea. Quixen was worried that without such a network and position it would be too easy for a coupe or assassination to happen. Within days of the appointment of the first holder, such a thing happened, there was an assasination attempt on Rai that was stopped just in time. Since then Rai has regarded the role as an important necessity and a level of protection he greatly appreciates.
