War of the Dragons

The War of the Dragons was a several century long conflict in which the Dragons sought dominion over the entirety of Vasea. The peoples they had already conquered tried to fight back even though they they knew it was mostly hopeless. In addition those not yet under the control of the dragons fought with everything they had.

The Conflict

Prelude

While the exact date that marked the start of the war is unknown, the cuases run with the brutal and tyranical rule of the Dragons and their unsatiable hunger for utter dominion. As such they would enslave other species to do the things they saw as below them, while providing barely enough to keep them alive.

Deployment

As time wore on this tyrany began to grate on all the peoples of Vasea enough that they began to ally with each other, especially under the banner of one man...Rai Reirha who was a dragon himself but far from the rest of them. Everything came to a head when Rai swore to take on the queen and the army himself, promising an end to the war.

Battlefield

When the time came Rai made sure that the battlefield wasw as free from civilization as he could, hoping to lessen the numbers of the fallen. A wide open exapnse in less populated areas to the north of the Dragon Queen's palace. The terrain mattered little to him as the fight was only meant to buy him time.

Conditions

The day was dark and dreary, wet and as solomn as anyone's moods when faced with a last stand. The storms above only furthered the cover that Rai needed to enact his plan, and as such made ill favored conditions more than favorable.

The Engagement

While those who had allied themselves with him fought Rai put his plan into action, calling upon ancient forbidden magics he had found, secretly, and using every ounce of magical energy he had to cast. There on the battlefield Rai struck down every dragon who would oppose peace and prosperity for all. Most believed that he had single handedly killed all of them, the truth was that at the sacrifice of his ability to use magic, he sealed them away deep below the world where they should never get free.

Outcome

Once the deed was done and the battle ceased there was relief, relief that led to questions of what would happen now. Long debates and arguments were had over the meeting tables that had previously served to unify everyone. Things began to look somewhat grim again.

Aftermath

After some time cooler heads prevailed and the Empire was born, though Rai himself was put in charge as the only one any of them would trust to rule them all. This has had a lasting impact on the functions of the empire as well as on Rai's psychy.

Historical Significance

Legacy

The War of the Dragons is failed as the greatest historical victory and the defining achievement that led to the Age of the Great Dragon. Peace and prosperity reigning since that day in the eyes of the majority of the public. A legendary victory that birthed a legendary emperor.
