Faraway Forest
Demographics
A community of Forest gnomes highly skilled in engineering, architecture and the arcane.
Government
A clan leader is responsible for overseeing the affairs of the community. The current clan leader is Old Gnomeson.
Defences
A gigantic sycamore tree that towers over the rest of the forest. The tree reaches well over 600ft in height and over 50ft in diameter (unnoticeable due to cloaking magic). Named Mother Tree, she is sentient and protects and provides for her inhabitants. In times of violence, she protects herself by swinging branches and moving roots. She also has the ability to call on the beasts of the surrounding forest to help defend her. The forest that falls beneath Mother Tree’s branches is enriched.
Industry & Trade
The Gnomes of this community are self-sufficient. They have a bartering trade system. They do not rely on exports or believe in currency.
Infrastructure
A Gnomish community hidden inside the trunk and limbs of a large tree located in a forest. Within, gnomish rooms are warm and comfortable, akin to the burrows of small mammals. Outside, platforms hold ingeniously crafted hot air balloons. Elevators are used to move up and down and are located within the trunk of the tree. Windmills hang from the limbs and branches of the tree. The community is so well hidden that it is impossible for unwelcome visitors to find.

History
Early in their history, many gnomes were held captive by the nations of Khar and Sarkonos as slaves. During this time, the Gnomes were forced to build weapons of war. Some escaped this cruel fate by constructing a drill made of silverware that allowed them to flee their captors by digging underground. The leader of the gnomes at the time, Gnarl Gnomeson, led his people into the forest where he encountered a druid who grew Mother Tree in which they still live. The Gnomes vowed to never again let their inventions be used for warfare.
Mother Tree was germinated from the seed of the World Tree. Over 300 years ago, Alpha and Gnarl Gnomeson enchanted her with magic so that a constant state of pollination would fall beneath her branches. The pollen is nearly invisible but when inhaled causes creatures to forget the location of the Mother Tree upon leaving. It also causes creatures to become unable to communicate about the tree or its inhabitants to anyone (words come out as gibberish). Beasts of the forest are unaffected.
