Fire, the Murder King
Early after the end of the Burning war, the Creed religion had been successfully installed in Ember and the Highlands. A new King of Ember, in sworn servitude to the Iron Empire, believed he was visited by Ethos himself. He ranted about what Ethos had told him in his dreams, and he knew exactly how many more souls Ethos needed to complete the Burn, but they were running out of time. Fire became known as the Murder King because he systematically went through all of the Ember Dominance with his Knights and slaughtered as many people as they could. None were exempt, men who fought back, and women and their children. He believed he was doing Ethos’ work and completing the Burn. It took Iron mobilizing their bannermen within House Vaele to venture into Ember and put down the Murder King. Thousands within Ember died, and they are still recovering. This was the catalyst for the Ember “rebellion” which resulted in the Inferno that Sir Hasting is renowned for being the only survivor in.
