Ep 58: "Land Sharks"

The party met up early at Saxi’s suggestion, to decide what adventure to go on. They discussed the politics of the up-incoming election at the Beer Forge and found out from Ivy that Kurt from The Tea Garden was running in Barrel Run. They also discussed their concerns about Afra running the Guildsmen District and who else would go against her.

Tirah was a possible candidate for the Guildsmen District so Finkoo split off to meet with her. She insisted that Vasafra would be a strong council member to lead the district. While Vasafra may not be amicable or agreeable, she was consistently driven and goal-oriented. Which would be good for such a position. Cyl was also mentioned as a possibility for the Guildsmen District. She was created for such an ambassador level position, and the addition of a ship filled with Goa to the city would have piqued people’s interest. Rosie sent a message to Cyl about her leading and she seemed hesitant, but receptive.

Pinbol and Rydel Arasys, Seldanna’s father, were candidates for the Pearl District. Oisin met with his beau and the wizard admitted he considered Rydel the better choice. He even said he had thought about giving up his candidacy in favor of Rydel, but he believed in having choices in an election. He also felt that he would be a good choice as well.

Pinbol also felt that Kurt Brambleknot was an unlikely candidate for the Barrel Run District. He didn’t seem to have the strength, nor the passion to make change. He was also too nice.

Holly, from the clinic, was the likely winner for the Dawn District, which the group had no issue with. They agreed she would be a good candidate.

Primeheart was interested in putting himself out there to lead the Temple District. Saxi, Kali, and Primeheart went to the Nature Temple and talked to Feylin, an elf priest. He said that both the Knowledge Temple and the Grave Temple had candidates to lead the District.

Primeheart asked if he needed to have residence in the district to run, which he needed and didn’t have. He also pointed out that with new Boat Lift constructed from nature itself, it seemed a good omen for a member of the Nature Temple to run. Feylin suggested a strong nature priest named Ezra, the one that reincarnated Mari, and Primeheart promised that he would not only praise Ezra to the people he had been working with, but also that he would make a strong attempt to work at the temple to restore it.

On the way back, Primeheart asked Saxi about her faith. When she told him that when she was rescued with Oisin, the Dawn had run tests to help find their abilities and Saxi had been a strong warrior wielding divine magics. By looking through a large tome of deities, she found Atloxtli, a chaotic goddess of arcana and the tempest, who called to her. Primeheart suggested that they go to the Tempest Temple together at some point, as Quarra was also of the Tempest and that they might be able to find out more.

The party then met back at the Beer Forge, had a heart-to-heart with the still-blue Rosie, and made headway to her healing. They decided that, since they were unable to breathe underwater, the caves would be a better option than the castle. Thus, they had a good idea for what the rest of their day entailed.

A large slide had been built by the goblins, from the edge of the cliff and down to the entrance below. An alternative way down was a rope ladder they had also constructed. As they entered the tunnels, they decided to take the path that smelled of stale air, marking their way as they went.

They came to a section with multiple tunnels and pathways. They chose to take the rightmost path first and Saxi marked it. She used her chalk to draw a “1” and wrote “Start Here” to mark it well for future groups.

They continued down the path for a while and eventually noted a rumbling beneath their feet. Suddenly, two landsharks erupted from the earth and a battle ensued. The battle was arduous and, as they were finally killed, shadows danced from the bulettes’ corpses. This made the fight even more difficult.

The party prevailed with minor injuries and they made their way back, harvesting some hide from the landsharks for potential profit. They ended the day making their way to Primeheart’s camp. Some made stops to check in with, and bring along, those loved ones who wanted to enjoy a bonfire in the quiet comfort of the Skyroot Forest.
