In the morning, Lark offered to help Cyl finish her mural on the side of her workshop and told her that Anica wanted to give them a job. Nyx had a secret secret meeting, then did their work at Greaser’s Union as Bridget. Kali spent some of the morning looking after her chickens, before having another meeting at her church. Finkoo continued to work and put some more time into the rifle. Oisin let Ezra know about going to the well, and talked about what they could do next. Oisin also looked at Pinból’s clock, trying to find out who made it. After investigating, they found an inscription, saying “To my beloved, for when most needed.” Signed, P.M.
The Beer Forge
The group came into the bar and encountered a new singer in town who was singing about losing their cockerel. After taking in the innuendo filled song, the group talked about what they wanted to do with the day. They decided to go check the Shadowfell again and look for more of the root they needed.
They got up to head to Pinból’s and Aldion came in to tell them that he had given them some help. He, and some friends, had gotten the urn filled a bit more. He said that one large shadow creature should fill it to the brim and give them enough essence to destroy the portal.
Pinból’s Tower
After grabbing their gear, Pinból told them to gather as much of the Shadow dragon’s essence as possible. He asked the group if any of them could dispel the darkness the creature was able to generate. Since none of them could, he gave them 5 driftglobes to use. They could be used to cast Daylight to get rid of the darkness as needed.
He also gave the group some weapons, including some daggers and potions to help make their attacks stronger. He also gave a note to Cyl and told her to see a friend of his, Finn. The group headed there and picked up a flaming, throwable Warhammer for Cyl to use during the fight. She would have to return it, but could borrow it till after the fight. Then the group made their way to the portal and into the Shadowfell.
Through the Portal
The group looked through the shadow dragon’s caves for a while before coming to a water whirlpool. They found the dragon, even though it was invisible to them initially. After one of the Daylight spells went off, it became visible and they were able to attack. The party was surprisingly effective against the dragon, then Lark knocked it unconscious. This allowed Kali, who was focussing on the urn, to drain as much energy from the creature as possible. She was able to drain enough shadow essence to fill the urn and the shadow dragon died from the process.
Finkoo, Oisin and Cyl began to make their way back across the water and encountered the hoard of the creature. They had to fight their way through the undead minions the dragon had been using to organize its hoard. It took a while, but they were ultimately victorious and rejoined the others.
The group got back together, and headed out of the area to go back home. They encountered a little girl, the Vessel, who looked distraught. She told them that they made her break her favorite toy, and the group had the horrific realization that she meant Pinból.
After the Portal
As the group move past her, the ground started to shake and caused rocks to fall from the ceiling as they moved. As they moved through the dangerous terrain, Oisin tried to use the Sending Stone to contact Pinból. There was no reply.
The group finally got to Pinból’s room and discovered it coated in thick, viscous, red blood and pieces of the wizard. Oisin broke down in grief as the others stared in horror at what had befallen their friend. Finkoo, hoping it would help, asked about the clock on the wall.
Oisin stared at the clock for a moment as they clutched what was left of Pinból to their chest. They said, “I wish he was still here.”, and time began to reverse. The group watched the scene reverse, saw Pinból’s body reassemble, saw the Vessel blast Pinból with energy, saw him arguing with the Vessel about their checkers game, and saw them playing the game together.
Time started to move forward and the group watched the scene unfold in front of them, until it paused for just a moment. Time enough for one action, in the moment where Pinbol was shouting at Imelda and before she would hit him with energy. Oisin acted immediately.
Oisin grabbed Pinból, in that moment, and shoved him out of the way. They took Pinból’s place as the events unfolded before the group. This caused Imelda’s attack to hit Oisin instead. The party was forced to watch, helplessly, as Oisin was torn apart in front of them.
In a panic, the group gathered as much of Oisin as they could. Pinból, unresponsive in his anguish, was carried by Cyl as they went to the Temple district to find help. Nyx, worried that their presence would hinder the group being helped, did not go to the district with the others.
Ezra was hesitant to help, because of the amount of times he had helped them in the past, and the fact that Nyx hadn’t been there to do what they promised to do. After Ezra refused, Pinból stepped forward, and begged for help while kneeling in front of Ezra.
Ezra agreed to help, this one last time. He said that the group could not bring this to his door again after this and the group agreed. Kali, Cyl and Pinból gave their feelings and emotions to help the ritual, and it succeeded. The twisting, growing vines formed into the new body. They faded away to reveal a firbolg with blonde hair, and a face nearly identical to Oisin’s original one.
