Ep 77: "Two is Better than One"

Prologue

Skyroot Estate is the name Primeheart gave to his home.
Kali sent word so that Amy could be transported to her temple and prepped it for her arrival.   Pip was cooking meals at Raynard Manor for the last two weeks.   Over the last two weeks, GB launched an advertising business in the SKY!   Cyl continued painting the mural on her workshop wall and kept her eye on Dub due to him acting a little off recently. She had also begun planning an art festival.   Oisin had been staying in recently, trying to relax and adjust to their new visage.   Primeheart worked to make his homestead more of a home.

The Beer Forge

Primeheart decorated Douglas (the sentient tree) for the holidays and brought it to the Beerforge. He pitched it as a decorated simple servant to Ivy. Ivy accepted to begin the Elumas decorating for the Forge. (Egg-shaped ornaments in trees, chromatic and metallic colors to represent dragons, bonfires, colored egg-shaped lights).   The party met at their reserved table. Kali brought Ivy eggs to see if she was interested in purchasing them, but they were too small. Pip and Cyl happily took them.   Kali gave GB a new collar called a Two-fur, which allows the spell Mage Hand to conjure two hands. The hands cannot move further apart than a medium sized creatures hands. It helps the hands have greater fine motor control.   An odd mechanical creature entered the bar. It had a proper face on a boxy frame, legs that hinge backward compared to humanoids, and slightly more complicated hands than Mo’s, though it otherwise is pretty similar to Mo. The duodron introduced himself as Duran. He’s new in town. Duran said they were the "accountabilibuddy" of DiDi. Duran did not like wearing clothing, eating, but liked puns, plans, and schedules. They said that Mo and Moira were going to become DiDi. Duran said that if Mo doesn’t merge with Moira to become DiDi, then Duran would help the quadrones “prune” Mo. The duodrones are soldiers, while the monodrones are scouts. Moira summoned Duran because Mo was being difficult. Duran said that the modrons would restart the universe when it was gone, though that was 753 billion years away from happening. Duran left.   The party talked about what to do and decided to go to Mo’s Tower.

Mo’s Tower

The party greeted Moira but Moira did not seem to want to engage.   The party went through Pinbol’s front door and entered the portal. It smelled awful on both sides of the portal because Pinbol had dropped a stinky ingredient. They explained the situation to Pinbol. He went through the teleportation circle to the Tower while the party went through the front door to see what happened. They sat around outside but the front door never opened. The concluded that Pinbol went to talk to Mo but didn’t want them involved.

Chalice

The party took the ferry to the Barrel Run district to the Chalice to ask around about Hasko, the leader of the guilds in town. They learned that Hasko had purchased an old tavern to fix up. (we later find out he bought the entire block)

Hasko’s place

Magic users were using Prestidigitation and Mending on the outside of the building to fix it up. NPC told us Hasko was inside.   The party announced themselves (through Pip) and went inside to find him. Hasko sat on a drafting table: boots curled, stylish pants, red overshirt, cloak, orange with black striped tabaxi. His fingers curled backward, which the party found odd. They talked to Hasko about possibly trying to become an adventuring group under the Steel Syndicate. Hasko describes the Syndicate as opportunist mercenaries   The party’s description of themselves did not seem to fit the Syndicate. Member groups of the Syndicate can decline jobs on an infrequent basis but it would not work to routinely refuse jobs. The Steel Syndicate would just as soon take a job to overthrow a corrupt or totalitarian government as a good government. He said that the jobs that come in are those that Good people won’t do for free. (Meta‑knowledge: it is possible that Hasko learned from Cyl’s middling deception check that the King is alive).   Hasko listed a few member-groups as people that we could potentially get odd-jobs from: Shovel Tusk, Bad Company, Soft Paws, and Pest Control. Hasko was interested in having us work, if we were willing to take the jobs and were able to go to the Shadowfell or the Faewild. The party declined to continue negotiations and left.

Chalice (again)

The party spends 5gp each to enter a monster fight at the Chalice. They chose to fight a Cave Giant, about twenty foot tall with a set of giant canines, one of which was cracked. Image   Using an extremely powerful spell, Kali killed the Cave Giant. Primeheart immediately revived him, but the Chalice still put a mark on Kali—this was her first and only warning to not bring lethal damage into a challenge here.   Mo showed up at the end and asked if we could have coffee with him tomorrow.

Loose Threads

  • Close the portal to the Shadowfell
  • Continue working on Smuggling former King Earl Goodsbury out of Cinderhaven. This includes Amy, as getting both of them away would be ideal.
  • What are the "new" up to? No one has heard from them in awhile
  • Mo and Moira are still around and as far as we know, not talking
  • Find out Juveah's true name

First Appearance of Hasko, the leader of the Steel Syndicate (rivals of the Birchfield Seekers)   In order to get a discount on inventory at Arlund's Alchemical Oddities we need to be an adventuring group - Hasko is the man to speak to about forming our own, or should we talk to Maerryl about joining Birchfield?
