The ruler of the Nine Hells, Lucious was not always a greater diety. He started off under humble beginnings. Being a businessman by trade, any deal he made always ended in his favor. Even if the other party didn't realize it. Eventually he was brokering deals between kingdoms and later continents. There was little on this plane or another he couldn't get his hands on. In the early days of the formation of the Abyss, after the gods slew Arcon and his corpse began the slow process of tearing through existence and forming the Abyss in its wake, the gods were looking for a way to contain the Abyss. Endless hordes of demons began flowing from the Abyss. Lucious took a deal to Luxoth, Lucios would take his place in the Abyss and create an army to defend the upper levels, stemming the tide of demons attempting to escape. In return, Luxoth would grant him enough power to ascend to godhood. The deal also stated that any souls unclaimed by the gods are granted to him, to use as soldiers in the war against the demons. He used his initial surge in power to create a Legion of Pit fiends which he used to counquer the uppermost nine layers of the Abyss. These Layers were renamed the Nine Hells and Lucius rules over them to this day.
