Snootlebug

Made from the crushed wings of a particular species of beetle native to the swamps of Asshad, this common black-market drug is usually thought of as the purview of rebellious teenagers and is of little interest to hardcore smugglers.

Snootlebug takes the form of an iridescent gray-green powder. It is often transported in bricks.

Geology & Geography

The beetles from which snootlebug is made are found in the western swamps of Ileoth and are imported by dealers for farming. In areas similar enough to their native habitat, such as the marshy areas along the River of Tongues in Anaya, escaped beetles roam wild.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Snootlebug is most commonly used as a recreational drug, and as such it is illegal in Sarpor and in some Anayan provinces. In places where it is not fully banned, some doctors prescribe it to aid concentration.

Hazards

If the powder is not ground finely enough, the large, sharp pieces of the beetles' wings can cause damage to the airways and, in the worst cases, damage to the brain. The substance is also moderately addictive.
