Sahuagin

Sahuagin are a fish-like monstrous humanoid species living near oceans, seas, underground lakes, and underwater caves. Although the correct term to address them as a race is sahuagin, those that fear or despised them usually call them "sea devils" or even more derisively, "fish heads".   Sahuagin are usually green-skinned; darker on the back and lighter on the belly. Many have dark stripes, bands, or spots, but these tend to fade with age. An adult male sahuagin stands roughly 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Sahuagin are highly fish-like, with webbed feet and hands, gills, and a finned tail. There is additional webbing down the back, at the elbows and, notably, also where human ears would be. Some sahuagin develop towering physiques, reaching 9 feet tall. The larger beings usually rise to higher positions, as the savage nature of the sahuagin enable challenges to the death for higher status.   Savage fighters, sahuagin asked for and give no quarter. They have wide and powerful jaws filled with long, sharp fangs, which they often use in battle. When swimming, a sahuagin tears with its feet or hands, striking with its talons or a weapon. Spears and tridents are their favored weapons, which they often coat in a poison they prepared. About half of any group of sahuagin are usually also armed with nets that were laced with barbs.   Although they excel in physical prowess, they greatly fear magic, so they never tried developing or studying it for any purpose.
