Goliath

Tribal nomads of the mountains, strong as the rock and proud as the peak.

Goliaths can be found in the northeast of the continent of Thymios in the mountain. They are mostly found close to the mountains, and they live fairly secluded from other civilisations. Their physique allows them to live in high remote places that humans would find harsh. Some still walk the mountains, while others have settled down. The rare goliath that travels without a tribe either left or was shunned.

Society

Since the last age, larger tribes have started to settle and have formed small towns in the mountains. Other tribes still live nomadic lives through the mountains. The towns often formed out when tribes started to get to large. Some tribes grew large naturally while others grew large by absorbing other tribes. Some tribes have absorbed tribes of other races like a tribe of wild elves or orcs. This happened when the other tribe was defeated, and they were got a choice to join the tribe or leave without weapons. These different factors make Goliath society is scattered and secluded. While there are differences between the tribes, they often get along when they do meet because they follow similar codes.

Personality

Goliaths' most notable characteristic is their competitiveness. They keep track of their accomplishments and see everything as a challenge. Those not familiar with goliath psychology often get annoyed when goliaths constantly reminded them how many times a certain thing has happened, thinking them arrogant or self-centred. This is not the case, however. To goliaths, score-keeping is a natural and integral part of life, not meant to belittle or demean anyone.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Goliaths are massive in size. They averaged between 2.1 to 2.4 meters tall, making them even taller than dragonborn and half-orcs. The large irises of the Goliath are often a silvery white, but can be bright blue or green.

Goliath skin is often grey or a pale brown and is extremely tough. One of the most distinctive features of the Goliath is the darker patches or patterns of skin that covered their entire bodies, often vertically symmetrical. These markings seem to be an indication that they originated from one of the elemental planes. Goliaths believed that these markings somehow explained or controlled their fate or destiny. For this reason, goliaths never tattooed themselves as this could affect their future.

Goliath skin was littered with hard patches called "lithoderms". These patches vary in size, depending on the amount of articulation is needed in the skin.

Goliath males are naturally bald while the women can grow dark, thick hair. Some males have started to be able to grow beards, which is a result of mingling with other races. Some tribes view this as a label of pride while others as an abnormality, especially when they have not seen it before.
