Session 11: The End of the River Report

General Summary

The party continued their boat ride. It was more eventful than the first half of the journey. They encountered some bandits pretending to be guards, but they managed to trick them with copper pieces and minor illusion. They encountered more bandits who they easily defeated. They also floated past the Naiad and charmed her enough to receive help along their journey. Greg also lost a toe thanks to Doc, a kobold.    When the party arrived in Arrapha, they met Pyxrin, the head of the Ishenalyr Dynasty. She explained the quest in more detail before passing them off to Rezena, a priestess of Astilabor. Rezena explained what she knew, and agreed to get them a room at an inn, The Clay Lake, and a meeting with Maagog, the spymaster of Ishenalyr. The party were given two kobolds, named Redclaw and Doc, to help them with the quest. Barnaby sent off Mouse with a letter in theives cant requesting information about the Athauglas Dynasty. The letter was intercepted, but Mouse returned to Barnaby. While they waited to meet Maagog that night, Barnaby and Greg went to explore Arrapha.   Barnaby found his way to a familiar haunt, a hideout for thieves in Arrapha beneath a weaving store in the Lake District. He met Solstice, a tabaxi friend, there who offered to help him on his quest, without learning too much about it. Solstice agreed to set up meets with some people who might know more about the Athauglas grand house. They will meet Lillith the next day and Rivaan the day after. Greg found a stonemason's store, Bit o' Stone, and he asked the black dragonborn storekeep a few questions. The storekeep told Greg all he knew about the obsidian-handed dragonborn which wasn't much. He told him he was part of the Athauglas Dynasty.   Meanwhile, Roisin was waiting in the tavern for Maagog which she forgot and turned away the green dragonborn when he arrived. Afterwards, the party was loudly discussing it in the tavern and asking the people who entered if they were named Maagog. Finally one, in the company of a blue dragonborn, claimed to be him. After a series of probably badly judged rolls, the jig was up on both sides and it devolved into a scuffle between the green spy, Greg, and Roisin upstairs. Meanwhile, the blue dragonborn and Barnaby were having a calm discussion downstairs.   The spy killed Greg when Roisin refused to put down her weapons, before he and the blue dragonborn flew out the window. With Greg's death, the party returned to the Dynasty house. Rezena and Pyxrin agreed to have him resurrected if the price for such a service was deducted out of their reward. They agreed and the preparations commenced. Barnaby told Rezena about the meeting with the spies in the tavern, and arranged for a new meeting with Maagog the next day.   Solstice mentioned there was more jobs available in Arrapha when Barnaby met up with her.
