High General
In the country of Sosha, the High General oversees all actions of the country's army and is the first informant for the Duchess. It's a single position bestowed by the Duchess herself.
Generals are a rank below the High General, and they are given lower ranks still to supervise throughout the country. The High General has a great position of influence with the Duchess, and is one of her very few confidants. A significant amount of trust is required to even be considered for this position.
The second most recent High General served for 13 years under the Duchess, but in Seþivur of 1879 KA, she was killed in a pirate ambush while en route to the Western Lands to see over an outpost. Immediately, the Duchess promoted Hesþilis Viderr to the position and granted him full control over the country's military.
Until this point, Hesþilis was highly respected as a General of the Northern regions of the country, known for his fierce and rather cruel attitude. His rise to this position was met with much controversy due to his well-known past of unnecessary force and questionable ethics, but the Duchess, a sort of mother-figure to Hesþilis, was confident his unyielding personality would do well in times of uncertainty or potential battle.

History
Sosha's first High General was appointed soon after the formation of the country's airship navy; once a General was necessary for that branch, it was decided that all Generals would report to the High General, who would then answer to the Duchess. The second most recent High General served for 13 years under the Duchess, but in Seþivur of 1879 KA, she was killed in a pirate ambush while en route to the Western Lands to see over an outpost.
