Delitonius Icarou
Delitonius Icarou
Delitonius was born to two normal parents in the town of Dark Gate. His angelic heritage caused him to be an outsider among the people in the town. Some regarded him as a good omen, others as a dangerous harbringer. The town's superstitions would overwhelm the young Delitonius, causing him to be closed off to most others.
As he grew up, he would look up to the soldiers of Daborak stationed at Dark Gate. In them he saw men and women who earned their position of respect and authority. He would spend less and less time around his own family, and more following and observing the soldiers as they went about their duties. For he wanted to earn, not be born into, such respect and awe he felt from these warriors. On a few special occassions, he would also catch glimpses of fearsome warriors clad in black armor, the Hkari.
As soon as he could, Delitonius pledged himself as a soldier of Daborak. He took up the sword and would begin to train to join the army one day. It was during this time that he would meet Maria. Maria wasn't a noble, a soldier, or anyone really special. She was just a baker's apprentice, but how she would treat Delitonius would matter more than anything. She treated him like a normal person, not as some blessed being sent to the city by angels. That relationship would soon bloom into a full romance, and Delitonius would ask Maria to marry him. Maria told him yes, and Delitonius was the happiest he had ever been.
However, his happiness was not meant to last. On one day that the couple could get away from the city, disaster struck. Delitonius is still not sure why it happened. Where they too close to Dolten? Did some devil have a chip on its shoulder against Delitonius' ancestry? It wouldn't matter though, as the result would be the same. Devils attacked the young couple. Delitonius would fight with all his heart, but it wouldn't prove to be enough. Maria would lay dead on the ground, and Delitonius would be left, injured.
Filled with rage and grief, Delitonius would seek out the power to stop such an event from ever happening again. He would leave his training as a soldier, and instead pledge himself as a paladin to Nero. For while he wished to do good, he would admit his reasons for seeking the god's power was entirely selfish. He wanted to destroy as many Demons as he could. He would go even a further step, and travel to the Black Roost. There, he would accept the armor of the Hkari, and stand as a shield to protect all of Kalkatesh from those who wish it harm.
