Censer Bombs
Keep good, keep true, and the curse won't take you. --Statement of Aine's militant, religious zealots that utilize Censer bombs.A Censer bomb is exactly what it sounds like. They're small, spherical balls that are packed tight with specially treated incense. The incense treated in this way typically uses a special substance in the center, called sparkpowder. Censer bombs are fully capable of functioning as normal censers in some cases; and for all intents and purposes, usually are. What makes a censer bomb what it is is actually the materials packed inside of the object. Regardless, censers have always held a deep significance in cultures around the world, and now, more than ever, regardless of faith or spiritual values, they have become an invaluable tool when combating those afflicted by the Blood Curse Censer bombs vary from each one; some are large, while others small, but the end result is usually the same. The spark powder serves as a catalyst that rapidly expands and burns the incense, before exploding and sending an aromatic smog throughout the area they're tossed. This smog not only helps in deterring any would-be beast, but is fully serviceable against other people due to how versatile alchemy can be when incense is utilized. Some smokes, for example, may be turned poison, filling the lungs of all who breath it with a burning, searing acid. Others might be tossed a dash of Frostmint, leaving icy particles that stick to the skin and cause discomfort, and outright freezing if contact is made with water.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
A censer bomb is essentially a normal censer; they're brass balls that include several holes, and either have a feeding tube or method of opening to store incense. Censer bombs utilize special blends of incense that are infused with alchemical ingredients and effects. When burned and tossed, the impact causes the smoke from the contained incense to rapidly burn and explode in a thick cloud of smoke. While not lethal to most, this can provide a perfect cover or smokescreen in a pinch, and effectively disable any would-be attacker.
Significance
Censers have a very significant use; as does incense in general. It is an exceptionally important part of all cultures. Censers are frequently used by those worshiping the Fae due to the spiritual significance behind it, while even those who remain faithless still utilize censers and censer bombs for the sake of warding off those afflicted by the The Blood Curse.
