Vinland is mostly known as a maritime powerhouse, sporting a powerful navy and merchant fleet. The region is rich in marine life, so fishing is a major staple, particularly lobster, crab, salmon, and various whitefish. Refrigeration magitech has significantly increased the reach of their trade networks.

History

Vinland grew up out of a tiny outpost set up by Thulian explorers in 2453 AUC, who were the very first Ionians to set foot on the continent. When the sailors traveled further inland, they found a bountiful but mysteriously empty wilderness, as well as many odd ruins that yielded interesting artifacts. They decided to make a permanent base camp at what is now Port Kalmar.
