When the planet came to a halt, no one was safe from the horrors that followed. Cast in an eternal night soon after the establishment of civilization, even the eldest inhabitants of Vespía struggle to recall the sun's warmth. The Gods remained unreachable, and the Guardians' resolve began to falter. The only remaining semblance of protection comes from the artificial suns at the heart of each major (and the only) settlements, each under the care of a Guardian. These demigods were tasked by their creators to ground the roots of their respective peoples into the primitive, untouched lands. When not basking in an arcane tower's defensive glow, any living being is susceptible to the claws of the shadows. Anyone unfortunate enough to stumble into the darkness will emerge a shell of their former self, consumed by Dread, waiting to pounce on the next unlucky soul that loses their way.
