Vhakatshũ

Vhakatshũ is a war-torn land that was quite literally born out of conflict. A fight between ancient gods led to the creation of all life and geographical features that are present today. During this fighting, some of their magic seeped into the world itself, infusing much of the land and its inhabitants with magic, some good and some evil, some light and some dark.   The first and currently last age of great peace came about with the rise of the Empire of Man or the Epimar Minohn. Its rise marked the unity of most of the known world under one banner against the Vimali Empire, a country feared by all who knew of its existence. The Empire of Man was far ahead of any of its rivals because of its discovery of magic, building vast, expansive cities full of people. Most modern technology is still caught up with the Empire of Man, though some of their more advanced tech has been lost. The Empire of Man had its fair share of xenophobic and racist emperors, as does any nation, but overall it was an age of prosperity and happiness. That is, until the adaptability and resilience of humans began to cause its downfall. A plague known as Ohn's Bane swept across the landscape, leading to a lot of human deaths. Interbreeding between humans and other races caused their lineages to become more mixed to the point that most were no longer recognizable as human and more closely resembled the world's other races. As this continued, the races within the empire began to remember why unity had always been so difficult and began to resent each other once more. People returned to their ancestral lands and seceded from the empire, leaving humans to survive on their own in small numbers.   Now the land is once again full of war, as each empire has human ancestry and claims the throne of the Empire as its own. A desperate search for the emperor's crown has lasted thousands of years amid constant conflicts between the new and ever-changing empires of the world. Human cities are sporadic and scattered, governing themselves and living in fear of conquest from other races. Empires seek to expand into the Wall of Discovery, an unpredictable, untamed land of danger and wild magic, while working to prevent others from doing the same.   Even amid this chaos, though, not everything is bad. Unity finds ways to seep through. Some fledgling empires and societies include a mix of races who put aside their differences, looking instead to their shared ancestry in the Empire of Man. Others forge alliances in an attempt to peacefully reconstruct the empire. Mages and artificers from around the world work together to advance magic, technology, and society and performers travel the world singing songs of old and new heroes.
