Phineas Gage began life in a happy family. His parents were researchers in the Lord's Landing library and he grew up knowing that he was going to follow in their footsteps. So, he joined them in their research as a child and quickly outpaced others in his age group. He began his own research projects at an age where some kids were still learning how to multiply. Needless to say, he breezed his way into a wizard school and begun his own experiments. He, like many other Novonites, was obsessed with he infected. Except for Phineas, it was less a fascination with how to kill them and more a fascination with how to be like them. This distinction often left him alienated socially and he spent a lot of time alone. Once he finished school and obtained Specialist status he started doing some of his own research. This research was conducted in secret as it broke many established rules of scholarship. Despite the secrecy, rumors spread and Fire Oath contacted Phineas. Fire Oath and Phineas ended up being a natural fit as Phineas didn't care about helping the infected some if it leads to his further understanding of how they worked. Through their partnership, Phineas was able to modify the infected amulet with new and incredibly useful powers. Unfortunately for Phineas however, Fire Oath was investigated and destroyed and Phineas spilled his secrets to the Novonites before being officially executed by Mattin Stepaneos, though in reality he was murdered in his cell by the Crimson Gem.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Phineas has a scholar's build. He spends most of his time hunched over his desk writing and reading books causing a slight hunchback. He is often so absorbed by his work that he neglects his physical well being.

Body Features

Phineas sports a pair of grey mutton chops that connect to his thinning, wiry hair. He is clearly balding and has an exaggerated widow's peak. His fingernails are often bitten down to the quick from nervous, and aggressive biting.

Facial Features

He has a bold nose with a strong jawline. His eyes are sunken in and red from lack of sleep. He is often nervously biting his lip and looking around in all directions.

Phineas is most easily identified by his shifty nature and his extreme intelligence.

Phineas Gage was formally educated in the Lord's Landing School of Transmutation. He obtained the rank of Specialist in the transmutation school and he chose the vocation of Researcher.

Employment

Phineas was employed by the Fire Oath, paying him for his research and blackmailing him with the infected amulet permanently attached to his neck. He utilizes the resources that he gets from them to kidnap test subjects or pay for secret layers. Fire Oath gratefully assists as Phineas does a lot of good work for them. He also maintains a front by working as a professor at the Novonite School of Transmutation.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Phineas Gage was responsible for the advanced infected amulet that corrupts the mind of the wearer, turning them to the infected side.

Failures & Embarrassments

Phineas Gage was captured and executed by Mattin Stepaneos, an esteemed member of the low trinity, after he released everything he knew.

Mental Trauma

Phineas's social alienation had a harder effect on him than he ever outwardly showed. He often feels like people are talking behind his back or making fun of him causing him to often look around nervously. Also, he has a very nervous disposition and has never done well with the constant pressure of performing illegal activities, leaving him to jump at shadows and develop many nervous ticks.

Morality & Philosophy

Phineas was known for his grey moral codes even before his ties to Fire Oath. He believed that mastering the same capabilities of the infected would give the Novonites an even chance in the war between the two and he completed many terrible experiments with living subjects to accomplish his task.

Phineas is motivated purely by his goal to make himself and the People of Novon into a new form of Infected that maintains their humanity. He will even go so far as to help Fire Oath with their evil plans to unlock the key to his understanding.
