Downtime Activities

Every week, in between all of your adventuring, you spend your free time on a Downtime Activity. Maybe you want to learn a language, or research a particular subject. Perhaps you want to gain proficiency with a tool, or take your chances fighting in The Arena. Whatever you choose to do with your downtime, an activity can help you expand your knowledge, increase your abilities, or even make you money as you create a life for yourself in Springreach.

Downtime Basics

When to Post

Downtime Activities (DTA) can be posted in the #downtime channel on Discord any time between Monday and Saturday at Midnight PST every week. Downtimes are resonded to on Sundays by the Downtime Admin. Every DTA post will earn 100 XP, along with whatever else results from your activity and associated rolls. Weeks with two DTAs will award 200 XP.

How to Post

Downtime posts should follow this basic format:

1 DTA: Type of Activity

Activity Description (#/# Proficiency, if applicable) (Activity Cost, if applicable)

Lifestyle: Lifestyle Type / Living Location (Lifestyle Cost)

Weekly Business Roll, if applicable: # / Business Name (Rental/Tax Fee, Hireling Cost)

Example DTA Post:

1 DTA: Training

Training in an Herbalism Kit with Presfina (1/10 Proficient) (-25gp for training)

Lifestyle: Modest / Rusty Bucket (-7gp)

Weekly Business Roll: 64 / A Cut Above (-10gp small business rental, -14gp hireling)

What to Post

There are many options for your DTA. Almost every activity will fall into one of the categories in the following chart. If you're unsure about what your DTA is or how to do it, just ask a DM.

It's important to remember to not just state the activity you are doing, but to describe the activity. Gaining Renown? With who, and how? Fighting in The Pit? What fighting style are you using? Giving a description of your DTA will help the Downtime Admin give you more specific results.

Most weeks will have one DTA option. The last week of every month, in honor of Voyagers: Vianova Founders Day on April 28th, you are allowed two DTAs, as long as they are different activities. We also occasionally have special events that also allow for two DTAs. During special events, specific and thematic DTAs may be available to perform. These events will be announced in the #announcments channel on Discord.

Please note that NO temporary buffs (such as Guidance, Flash of Genius, etc.) can be used on Downtime rolls.

Renown and Infamy

As you create a reputation Springreach, and beyond, you may gain Renown or Infamy. Your standing in a city or with a particular group or organization can make it easier or more difficult for you to run your business, gain access to new regions, or find information you may need to adventure. These charts are a general description of how people may deal with you, but the specific benefits or detriments of your renown and infamy will depend on the area or group, and what you are trying to accomplish.
