Farryn
Bordered to the north by Thuudraine and to the east by Theonia, the country of Farryn takes up much of western Fallstead. Temperate weather makes for pleasant coastlines and areas of expansive grasslands between a smattering of light forests, then the green hills and fertile valleys of central Farryn. The northern region leads way to thicker pine forests and the border with Thuudraine. Along the southern coasts are several port towns and beachside villages, making their living through trade and fishing. Resort towns like Dreamshore thrive off of the tourism that comes with the warm weather and seaside charm.
Its capital city is Thiramen, ruled over by a group of highly educated oligarchs known as the Venerated Sage Alliance. Each city and town is led by a governor or mayor chosen by the Alliance. The VSA live and work in the Halls of Wisdom, making the decisions for the betterment of Farryn and disseminating edicts down to the governors of the cities and villages they rule over.
The economy of Farryn is varied. There is fishing along the coasts, and some farming, especially of flowers, fruit orchards, and vineyards in the central valleys near the rivers that flow from the north. Much of Farryn's wealth is made in Springreach, the largest port in Fallstead. Here, the University of Springreach educates the mages of Farryn and beyond, and the Farryn Navy resides in the port. Though sizeable enough to protect and patrol the coastlines, the Farryn military does not have the might or training of, for example, the Theonian military.
Farryn has always focused more on developing culture, beautifying their cities, and supporting Farryn citizens in creating lifestyles that bring them joy over military, economic, or political power. These are often seen as necessary components of building their educational and cultural institutions and endeavors, and so, while not the goal of Farrynian life, they are biproducts the country has found moderate success in, making them a useful ally to other nations.
