The Salty Siren
No one would ever accuse The Salty Siren of being a high-class establishment, especially in comparison to some of the chandeliered, marble-pillared wine bars and restaurants in the heart of Springreach. But as far as sea-side dock taverns go, The Salty Siren is as good as any. Mingling among the aromas of booze and fresh fish and chips is the smell of the sea, the briny scent carried on a breeze through an open window. Downstairs is the tavern, open, crowded with tables and chairs, a stage to one side for performers. Behind the bar is Rylddar Khalykur, the owner and proprietor of the finest establishment to serve the dockworks and sea dogs that enter into the Port. In the kitchen is Gruggand Soilback, the Svirfneblin chef, former pirate and ship's cook and an old friend of Ry's. Grug never can understand the tastes of Top-Siders, but he's willing to forgo his own Deep Gnome preferences to whip up homemade and hearty meals that the patrons of the Siren prefer. No one beats Grug's clam chowder, and he'll go toe to toe with anyone who argues.
Upstairs, there are rooms for let. A dormitory for those just needing a place to lay their heads, a few double-rooms, and even a couple singles for folks intending on staying a little longer, or guests who might have made a match down in the bar and are after a little, ahem, privacy for the night.
Whether you like the sounds of the sea to lull you to sleep and the clamor docks to wake you in the morning, or you've just come for a bite to eat and a pint, The Salty Siren has what you're after.
