Nettlesteel Forging

Nettlesteel forging is the practise of imbuing steel with Phytomagic energy, most commonly from Nettles or Nettle Essence. This forging produces a material that, when finally treated, will tend to always keep its shape, repairing fractures, minor breaks and dents. A proficient Phytomage will also be able to reconnect two disparate chunks of Nettlesteel and can repair shattered nettlesteel without the need for reforging it. Nettlesteel forging requires a Nettlesteel forge, a place with suitable accomodation for both a Phytomage and a smith, though some Phytomages who specialise in the production of Nettlesteel are able to do it by themselves, and are known as Phytosmiths.

Discovery
The art of Nettlesteel forging originated from the practise of Sen druids enchanting weapons with minor phytomagic advantages, such as holding an edge that little bit longer. During the Magical Revolution the burgeoning Phytomages of the time slowly learned how to source energy from Nettles and transfer this energy into metal objects, though the production of a specific material was still way off. Eventually, with the refining of magical binding agents like Silverwood Resin, it became possible for an object to hold Phytomagic energy indefinitely, and shortly afterwards the method for creating magically treated steel during original smelting was discovered. This allowed for the mass production of Nettlesteel, the purity of which was increasing rapidly.
